Auckland Council’s Pool & Leisure Centre’s are looking for Lifeguards to join us over the summer season!
Roles are fixed term over the summer period, ending end of Feb/March 2024.
As a Lifeguard your mahi will be to ensure pool users have quality supervision and ensure health and safety standards are upheld while they have fun in the water.
Full training is provided over a 2 week comprehensive programme!
We have the following roles available:
- 16hrs per week
- 24hrs per week
- 40hrs per week
He kōrero mōu: About you
No experience is necessary, but you will need to be a confident swimmer. We will give you full training for this role and you will gain a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC)!

You’ll need to be able to:
• Swim 200m any stroke in under 6 minutes
• Swim 50m Breaststroke
• Swim 25m Sidestroke
• Tread water for 5 minutes
• Retrieve an object from the deepest part of the pool you will work at (minimum 1.2m and maximum 5m)
Reliability and commitment to working early, late and weekend shifts are crucial.

Please note: 2 week mandatory training required; full-time from 13 Nov or 04 Dec 2023.
This role is classified as a Children’s Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and is deemed a safety-sensitive position.
