Downer is looking for their next Horticulture Apprentice. Within the Business, the Horticultural Apprentice is responsible for improving the delivery of horticultural services to clients by maintaining designated areas contracted to Downer Ltd.

The Horticultural Apprentice also undertakes project work contracted to Downer ensuring that a high quality, timely and planned service is delivered at all times.

The Horticultural Apprentice also ensures a high level of safety is adhered to in order to protect the public, other team members, and themselves.

  • National Manager – OSM
  • Contract Manager
  • Supervisor
  • Team Leader
  • Contract Support
  • Other OSM and Support Team Members
  • Zero Harm Advisor
  • Client’s Representatives

Qualifications 

  • Interest in Amenity Horticulture
  • Self-motivated, energetic, proactive and results orientated
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Excellent HSE work ethic
  • Demonstrated understanding of productivity and quality in delivering a service
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with various plant items
  • Proactive approach and a sense of urgency

Requirements

  • Minimum of NCEA Level 1 passes in English, Mathematics and at least one other subject area
  • Completion of a pre-trades course would be an advantage, but not required
  • Strong commitment to ongoing study Positive outlook and can-do attitude
  • Have a current drivers licence (minimum of restricted) and owns reliable transport to get to work, NZ citizen or have Permanent Resident
