This apprenticeship is ideal for people who have a love for hands-on work, problem solving and working on vehicles.

There is plenty of variety, no day is the same – from preventative maintenance to keeping our fleet of more than 500 tankers on the road through to computer diagnostics and fault finding with cutting edge technology. The learning opportunities are endless.

What’s in it for you?

Not only will you learn how to proactively maintain our fleet from a diesel perspective but also everything that goes with it from transmissions through to pumps – there is a wide variety of cutting-edge technology on our trucks

You’ll also get to learn about planning work, and assist with troubleshooting and breakdowns – there’s plenty of variety here!

What can you expect?

You’ll work closely with our vendors and have a lot of variety and scope within your role as it develops over the course of the programme.

  • Monday – Friday work on-site before progressing into shift work experience

What is it like?

Four year journey & each year is different as your knowledge, skills & experience grow with broad scope – not just fixing engines!

  • First year is about laying the foundations to your success with fulltime supervision & guidance while working on simple tasks
  • Year two has an increasing levels of independence with increasing levels of complexity
  • In your third year you are largely independent, completing maintenance tasks on all aspects of our fleet
  • In the fourth year an apprentice is gaining the depth experience & exposure required to be fully qualified

Who are we looking for

  • 16 years old to apply (min)
  • NCEA Level 2 Maths, English and Physics or relevant NZQA Level 3 Certificate
  • Experience working well with others (e.g. work, sports teams, volunteering, clubs and groups)
  • Being able to quickly learn and pick up new information
  • A great communicator who isn’t scared of numbers
  • A great attitude, motivated and a true passion in your chosen field
  • A current drivers licence would be a bonus (minimum restricted)
