The Helicopter Mission Controller, (known in the Navy as a Maritime Aviation Warfare Officer) acts as the Mission Commander on board a range of advanced Navy aircraft—such as the MRH-90 and MH-60R Seahawk. During this year-long experience, immerse yourself in the Navy’s unique maritime aviation environment, learning about the helicopter’s navigation and weapons systems as part of the control team. The Navy Gap Year Program is a one-year commitment that takes you well beyond the ordinary to experience everything the Navy has to offer. During your 12-month role, you’ll receive a salary package starting from $44,462.
In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental care, service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance (if applicable).
For this role, you must have completed Year 12 level of secondary education (or equivalent) to Officer Entry standard, or if applying for UNSW/ADFA – achieved an ATAR which would qualify you for entry into the relevant degree stream. Applications can be considered if you are yet to complete Year 12 and are tracking towards the required ATAR.
