Ignite Early-Career Education with Bridgestone NZ

Reading Time: 4 minutes

If one thing’s for sure, it’s that Bridgestone NZ is always helping to uplift and empower fresh talent. That’s why their calendars are constantly packed with incredible roadshows and so many car-fanatics are entering into their gateway programs!

But why are their efforts so important? Well, we’ve found that many students feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of different industries they could choose from. What’s more, they don’t always understand what working for a specific company actually entails.

By investing in early career education and showing students what it’s really like to work at Bridgestone (and the exciting pathways that are available), they’re positioning themselves as a top-choice employer for the next generation of talent. Oh, and they’re helping students find some comfort and certainty in the midst of huge life transitions which, if you ask us, is a pretty admirable mission!

Ignite Early-Career Education with Bridgestone NZ

If you’re a teacher, career advisor, or a parent, you’ll understand how tricky it is to help young ones create future plans when they don’t know what they want to do. After all, it’s nearly impossible for students to know what career suits them if they don’t know anything about their potential employers!

However, by speaking directly with companies like Bridgestone NZ at open days or roadshows, young job seekers can relax, knowing exactly what their future could have in store (and trust us, Bridgestone careers never disappoint). Not only do these events guide students towards their future careers, but they also describe how to get started in their chosen industry and allow them to start networking with existing Bridgestone employees. In short, attending a Bridgestone NZ roadshow or open day is the perfect way to kickstart a rewarding career!

If you want to know more, and we know that you do, stick around and discover what their early career education programs really entail.

Open Days:

In 2024, Bridgestone NZ hosted their first-ever open day, which allowed interested members of the public to learn what it’s really like to ‘Be Bridgestone’ for a day. With an interactive ‘loop’ that described how to change a tyre, they not only provided a taster of what participants would be doing on the job but also taught a crucial skill; how cool is that?

With their staff on-site, Bridgestone’s team were always available to explain what they do and what potential career opportunities they have to anyone interested in a Bridgestone career! From this event, they also created an exciting new talent pipeline.

Roadshows:

By partnering with Bridgestone and facilitating multiple inspiring roadshows, we’re building brand awareness and illuminating the potential Bridgestone career opportunities on offer to motivated students. By committing to early engagement efforts, Bridgestone NZ has been able to build interest and position themselves as a top employer for their next generation of talent!

Representatives attending the roadshow talked about the history of the brand, how Bridgestone has evolved over time and the exciting places they’re aiming to reach in the future! What’s more, they also created an interactive session of exciting capability-building activities and screened videos that showcased the Bridgestone NZ brand!

The impact of Bridgestone’s innovative roadshow presentations has been immense, but don’t just take our word for it; read on for feedback directly from school representatives!

students playing the tyre game“The teacher who attended the session tells me it was absolutely brilliant, so we have booked in some more sessions with Bridgestone. The kids LOVED it, and it was not like all the ‘other boring stuff’. The students and staff loved Bridgestone’s presentation, and I think they have organised more for another class. The students loved their experience – we’re 100% KEEN to do this again – ASAP”

“The Bridgestone Roadshow gave a great view of what roles are available to our students. They discussed the varying roles and what is available as vocational pathways to them. Great student engagement. We would love to have Bridgestone back and we have already arranged another visit as it was an enjoyable experience for my students.”

– Teacher, Mount Albert Grammar School

The best part? We’re keeping the momentum going with even more Bridgestone NZ early careers events in the near future. In fact, we already have nine NZ schools interested in a 2025 roadshow!

Kickstart Careers with Bridgestone’s Gateway Program

While Bridgestone NZ’s open days and roadshows are incredible opportunities, it’s their innovative Gateway Program that allows students to get hands-on experience and learn skills that will serve them for the rest of their careers!

‘We provided work experience for both corporate placements as well as trades placements to 5 fantastic high school students. At Bridgestone, we are passionate about growth, and what a great way to invest in future generations.’

– Shivani Nath, Human Resources Business Partner, Bridgestone NZ
